many extraordinary circumstances.

You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star.
~Nietzsche

circumstances
(hand felted hearts with altered fabric & Tyvek .)

Life always has a way of picking us up by the back of our pants and pushes us to do more then we want to. This is how we often grow and lean the most about our self and what we are truly made of.

I have once again waited till the last minute to get some work completed so in the new few days I will be working very hard to get it all done on time!
I often question this part of me...
the part that always wants to play or do anything other then what is needed from me.

IMG_8771.JPG

One of the main struggles that I have been having lately is making the move back to making jewelry...
it very hard for my mind to shift from fabric to jewelry...
all my new ideas have been towards jewelry...
but I almost feel guilty for not working on my fabric art some how...
I understand that I just need to let go and not think so much and just let my creative process take hold of me and allow the journey to just unfold in fount of me...

Like a child at play...
"Oh JOY! "
(I think I may have already found my way!)

My creation

I just added new jewelry to my shop.

“Have faith in your dreams and someday your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep believing, the dream that you wish will come true.”

Sew Charming Fiber/Mixed Media Jewelry July 4-5

Looking for something different to do with the family over the 4th of July weekend?
I will be teaching a two day workshop at Idyllwild arts.
(they are many workshops to chose from for all ages)

fragments wrist cuff

We will cover so much and have so much fun as I share with you how to create your own statement with fabric jewelry that isn’t your everyday necklace or bracelet but something that is extra extraordinary with unexpected ribbons and materials. Fabric jewelry is profound in style yet virtually weightless in its construction. In this workshop we will explore fabric and sewing related jewelry projects combined with basic and unique wire jewelry construction. Blistered organza flowers, fabric pillows and hearts will be covered as well as fabric altering such as dying and stamping, burning, and the secrets of embedding hidden elements in your jewelry. Pearl knotting and hand bead work and working with leather will also be covered.

your story

Discover an assortment of wire jewelry techniques including:
clasps & closures, knotted head pins, coiled jump rings, double-loop links, wire-orb links, beaded links and 3 bead dangles along with antiquing. In addition, we will focus on repurposing old jewelry, found objects, commercial and vintage chain, and discuss ways that they may be altered and incorporated into your jewelry. This class is suited to all levels. Basic jewelry skills are helpful but not necessary.

I hope you will join me for this two day retreat.

Her tender heartstrings are bottomless beauties of memories.

Held close to her heart…

The strings that break…
Help us grow.

The strings, which bind us…
Make us strong.
(Tender Heart Strings)

The tender strings of true knowledge love and truth…
Guide us through the years.
(Tender Heart Strings)

Tender Heart Strings

For she understand that her heartstrings...
Are strong and brave all we ever have to do is believe.
(Tender Heart Strings)

Tender Heart Strings

Eternally tender are her heartstrings...
Everlasting and evermore her spirit will continue to grow.
(Tender Heart Strings)

(multimedia art dress measures 18 by 14 inches. slide show here)

I will be teaching how to make these little dresses at ArtFiberFest June 24th - 28th 2009 in Portland Oregon along with two other fabric workshops. I hope you can come!

Today it must go out!

The second draft of my manuscript for layered, tattered & stitched is due out today.
This is my last chance to make any changes that need to be made. In this stage the book is all written but a few things need fixing and some words need to be added.

(this is a MAJOR rough draft and 90% of it has been deleted!)

My process of writing is for the most part done on the computer. However I have been deliberating on just how to make my words flow a little more lyrical for my introduction of the book...don't you just adore all my half hazard lines, scratched out words and numbers and half formed sentences!

Happy Mothers day and guest blogging

Because I feel that in the heavens above
The angels, whispering one to another,
Can find among their burning tears of love,
None so devotional as that of "Mother,"
Therefore, by that dear name I have long called you,
You who are more than mother unto me.
~Edgar Allan Poe

Divine Protection

“On life's journey faith is nourishment,
virtuous deeds are a shelter,
wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night.
If a man lives a pure life, nothing can destroy him.”

Say not, "I have found the truth," but rather, "I have found a truth." Say not, "I have found the path of the soul." Say rather, "I have met the soul walking upon my path." For the soul walks upon all paths. The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed. The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.
~Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet, 1923

Art Quilting Studio cover artist!

“The true harvest of my life is intangible - a little star dust caught, a portion of the rainbow I have clutched”
~Henry David Thoreau

soul's delight

The thrill of being picked to have your work grace the cover a magazine is a true delight!
Art Quilting Studio will be available June 1st and will be filled with inspiration from innovative art quilters all with a passion for fabric and thread.

I am still that little girl who wishes on a falling star and I sometimes pinch my self to make sure its all true...
dreams and hard work really do pay off...
follow your heart and that inner voice voice within and miraculous things will follow!

I am not sure just where my fascination with fabric occurred or just how it all begin,
but I am so glad that it did!
