Fabric charm Swap

I really have to admit that I like to host art swaps!
Well maybe I love the start, then its really cool when all the amazing work starts to arrive at your door steep, Then there is a blurry part that I don't like so much (kind of like child birth) But once all the work part is done, I must say that I find great satisfaction in packing it all up and sending it off :)

These are the Charms that I created for the swap, I machine stitched a felt heat and made Fabric word Pillows
( I have a upcoming article On Fabric Charms in the May/June issue of Cloth Paper Scissors and I tell how to make the word pillows along with two other fabric charms)

This is a Close up of the charm bracelet that I made and put together for 11 of the girls
11 Bracelets all lined up

Here is a list along with the links of all the wonderful girls that I worked with:
you can view each charm in detail here

Stitch Dictionnary Made By: Sara Lechner

Stitch Dictionnary, originally uploaded by Sara Lechner.

My inspiration comes from many places but there are a few girls over at flickr that total amaze, Inspire and support me and Sara is one of them! when I was young I was a girl scout and my leader was really big on home arts and working on my needle point badge was one of my favorites!

If you click on the photo it will take you to Sara's Flickr so you can view more of her wonderful art and also take a look at her blog where she talks about the piece and the project that she is in.

Today I will work on a Fabric charm bracelet that Sara is part of along with 13 of my lovely flickr girls! I will share it with you all when done :)

I think that we can all agree that friends that support and inspire are a wonderful thing!

I opened my eyes and found my wings.

I did this on Saturday , just because, I really do not remember the last time I made something for no reason, I have been stressed out about a few things so it was freeing to just create.
I used acrylic and ink for the background along with fiber, cloth and vintage lace.

On Sunday My Daughter Sarah and I Went to the art bar to celebrate Kelly's Birthday with a group of art friends :) We had a really great time!
Today I worked in my studio on some jewelry project's For a Collaborative book that I am working on.

Lovely Day

It was such a nice day that I had my top down on my convertible as I drove around town :)
after talking to my Girl friend in Chicago last night it made me all the more enjoying of what a wonderful sunny day we had.

I have been playing with my blog... AGAIN! I made a few other back rounds... I still need to tweak it a little more :)

Brave HeArt

I need to make art...
I need to sit at my table and make art... just because it feels good, not because I have to, not for a deadline, but just something from my soul...

I am a at crossroads in my life right now...
A little lost as to what road to take.

only when things become a little unclear do we understand that to grow is to live.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness"
WHEN I AM WEAK, I AM STRONG

i love you much(most beautiful darling)

i love you much(most beautiful darling)

more than anyone on the earth and i
like you better than everything in the sky

-sunlight and singing welcome your coming

although winter may be everywhere
with such a silence and such a darkness
noone can quite begin to guess

(except my life)the true time of year-

and if what calls itself a world should have
the luck to hear such singing(or glimpse such
sunlight as will leap higher than high
through gayer than gayest someone's heart at your each

nearness)everyone certainly would(my
most beautiful darling)believe in nothing but love

Understading My Soul

one minute its all about fun the next its all about tears...
my life has taken a little turn to tears ~ and a few things in my life must be fixed... and I keep telling myself that sadness can not last for ever.creating art does come from our soul and sometimes what we create can bring us joy but sometimes it can brings us aggravation... this little sneak peek of a little project that I am working on had me going crazy! ... and it just has me wondering... when it works out perfect the first time maybe it really was a miracle :)

Aspire

The magnolias are just about to bloom in my yard :)
its been raining but we needed it. we lost so many plants from almost 2 weeks of frost that we never get in Southern California.

I have been in my studio trying to clean it up because I have a few big projects that I need to get done in the next few day... and when I clean I can not help myself and make atc's with all the yummy scraps that are on my table :) so maybe I did play a little more then clean :)

We began as mineral. We emerged into plant life, and into the animal state, and then into being human, and always we have forgotten our former states, except in early spring when we slightly recall being green again. ~Rumi
