Body & Soul

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.
C. S. Lewis

I have been working up new class ideas.

The focal of this piece is a process called reticulation.
it is done by using a torch.
(you can view the entire piece here)

Say not, "I have found the truth," but rather, "I have found a truth."
Say not, "I have found the path of the soul." Say rather, "I have met the soul walking upon my path."
For the soul walks upon all paths. The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.
The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.
~Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet, 1923

on news stands now.

I received my copy of where woman create yesterday in the mail...

my studio in Where Women Create

oh how I wish that my studio really was always this tidy!
most of the time you cant even see my floor! and my family wants to know where this room in the magazine is because there have never seen it at there house!
I really am a messy worker and tend to create until there is about a inch or so of free space on my table!

my studio in Where Women Create

when I showed this page to my mother yesterday she said... "oh is this how you want your space to look?" and I said "it is my space!"
we had a BIG laugh!

desk view

Here is the view of my desk today with a few projects in the tinkering stage.

Thia small case that holds some jewelry that I am working on along with some inspiration and my mascot Mababo.
(African music is one of my favorite to create to and I have a very soft spot for music from Mali)

He looks over me.

desk view

this little red case holds some amazing lace that I picked up when I was in Portland, Oregon a few weeks ago (the burgundy scrim is hand dyed by the oh so lovely Penny!)

vintage lace

and a wee little assessable in the early stages.
I am not sure what it will turn into.

work in progress.

I hope you will pick up a copy of where woman create but for now you can view a slide show of my studio here

trying to touch ground

Life is a process...
We are a process...
The universe is a process...
~Anne Wilson Schaef

Finding time to create and nourish ones soul is not always as spontaneous as one would like.
It is after all a process~

poetry dress

4 weeks of traveling and being truly sick has beyond doubt taken a toll on me.

poetry dress

Joyfully I have mended and I am pulling myself together...
However no real time has been spent in my studio for almost 2 months...

poetry dress

part of me misses it, nevertheless part of me does not have a clue where to start...

What to pick up?
What to play with?
What to create?

poetry dress

Yesterday I started the task of unpacking my supply’s from my last few workshops.
Cleaning up my space is always a starting point for me.
It helps me to reconnect to my environment
and puts me on the right path...

poetry dress

Inviting ones self is part of the journey of ones life,
on the other hand reinventing ones self can some times be problematic process.
(who really is Ruth any ways?)

poetry dress

I sense a change draw closer to me but its still in a dormant state and has not fully exposed its self even to me...
I can feel it coming on almost like a growing pain of a child...
challenging but necessary.

I trust that by accepting this growth it prepares one to essentially open up and become enhanced as well as ready for change to take over and flower from with in.

One must always remain willing to allow the next ingredient in the creative progression to capture them.

We must never loose sight that we are a process...
and this life our art ~

poetry dress

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.
